Website Revamp & the Challenge of Reorganizing Myself

Welcome to my new website! Isn’t it pretty?!?! I’m totally adoring this fresh look, and I have to thank my friend Sierra for all her hard work on the header image. I’m so excited about the new look and hope you stop in and have a look around. I’ve added a “Books” tab so you can see a little more about what I’ve got and what I’m working on currently, and I hope to be updating these pages steadily as I work toward my short-term goals:

  • Goal #1: complete the draft of my 10k project
  • Goal #2: complete the draft of my 20k project
  • Goal #3: complete the draft of my YA project
  • Goal #4: submit the YA project for consideration in the Golden Heart contest
  • Goal #5: revise my short projects & submit them

Now that things are finally approaching “manageable,” I am hoping to make more progress on those handy progress meters over there –>. In my efforts to become more productive and more organized in all areas of my life, I’ve also been exploring a lot of different techniques that might help me try to stay focused and not quite so scatterbrained. Let’s face it–it’s hard enough to balance work and personal life, but when you add in juggling wedding planning, writing, and an editorial internship–sometimes, it gets to be enough that it pushes me to my absolute limits. I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve cried about having “too much to do.”

So, there has to be a better way. The bullet journal system was introduced to me recently and I’ve been using it for a few weeks so far. I’ve found it to be really helpful, and actually a little freeing not to have to organize them into various things. I’ve used Todoist, a digital to-do list that I adore for a number of it’s features (including the ability to schedule an item and set reminders), and I am presently trying to evaluate David Allen’s Getting Things Done method since it was recommended during a stress-free productivity workshop I took. Consequently, I’ve also been toying with Evernote, and I’m in a state of refining what works best for me (which seems to be a combination of all of the above).

The truth is: it’s possible the best option would be for me to take a step back from something, to take on less. But I think I’ll face that decision later, if I find that an organizational system is not the answer to my problems and releasing myself of certain responsibilities is.

While I hope that I will find a way to put myself in the best possible position to be both more productive and less stressed, I am open to hearing any and all suggestions you may have for accomplishing this.
