My muse doesn’t have a name, but I’ve long suspected that it’s male. I think this because my muse would much rather lure me to the couch to watch hours upon hours of TV, seek out whatever hockey game might be playing and just order in for pizza — you know, in the name of “research” — than actually sit down and work today.
I call him Lazy Bum. He doesn’t really have another name, but I’ll get to that some other time.
Last night, I broke 25k on the MS with a 5k effort. It took me all day, with a break in-between for grocery shopping and a trip to the dog park. Getting the two pups (mine and my cousin’s) to the park gave them some time to run themselves ragged (or in my dog’s case, bark herself ragged) and allowed my poor, numb bottom some relief. I was productive — slow! but productive. I liked what I churned out yesterday much better than the stuff I’d typed up the days before.
But right now, this minute? The muse is cranky. He wants to sleep. He wants me to call my friends to come over so I can leave him alone. He’s hoping the TV will distract me. Or hey, read more blogs! Better yet, there’s this shiny new book I bought last week that’s just begging to be cracked open. (Best put it on the shelf, out of sight.)
For the last half hour, I played around on the internet. It led me to do a Wordle for this MS. Check out my most used words, y’all.

A Visual of my most-used words through 25k. "Nathan" dominates... as he should. (click image to see full size)
Now… enough play. Time to write.
Lazy Bum, time to work!
Christy Finn is a 26-year-old super-heroine residing in Southern California somewhere between Los Angeles County and Orange County. Her amazing sidekick is a Pomeranian-papillon mix named Duchess because, well, she rules. When Finny escapes from her undercover job in academia, she spends her time reading, writing, and watching hockey games. Oh, and she goes on missions to save the world. Of course. This is why she is often sleepy and cranky. Give her coffee and chocolate, and she'll rejuvenate in a matter of minutes. Her current project is a YA paranormal to-be-determined, and her goal is to make PRO status start submitting her manuscript to agents by the end of 2010. She's been a member of the RWA since 2006 and prefers to keep her true identity hidden (so as not to have bad guys chasing her all over SoCal, natch).
